The encounter with the Goblins

In this event the company of Thorin accidently make their way to a Goblin kingdom underground and are captured. Bilbo finds the One Ring here.
"Out jumped the goblins, big goblins, great ugly-looking goblins, there were lots of goblins. There were at least six to each dwarf, there were even two for Bilbo."
