The First Memory Sled

The sled is th the first memory that The Giver shares with Jonas and brings him a sense of joy and happiness. That is diminished when he also experiences pain for the first time. This was shown as the symbol in this example to be the color red, the color of the sled. The color red can sometimes symbolize being new and vibrant feelings of the discovery that Jonas makes while he sees the color red, this time knowing what it is.
