The Munich Putsch: 1923

Hitler attempted to take over Munich with the current Nazi party, but his attempt failed and he was arrested. However, Hitler used his trial to his advantage by using the publicity to spread Nazi propaganda and thereby gain supporters. His publicity also allowed him to get out after one year when he was originally sentenced to a five year sentence.
