The Pain That Goes Around

For each creature you control with a -1/-1
counter, destroy it, and lose 1 life. Then put a
-1/-1 counter on target player's creatures. That
player repeats this process. Abandon this scheme
when all players have done this.
Numb to pain. Does anybody out there know how to
break the chain? I'm locked here in a cage. Lies inside.
