He was admitted to Owens College at just 14 years old.
J.J. Thomson was an extraordinary teacher, and
became Cavendish Professor of Physics at Cambridge
in 1884. He was regarded as a young prodigy and
many people who worked with him also went on to be
Nobel Prize winners.
