Unfortunate Apprentice can't attack or block.
{1}{u},{t}: Target spell that has only one target
and that target is a creature, change that spell's
target to Unfortunate Apprentice.

I keep trying, but everything I try to counter seems
drawn to me instead! -Bob, an unfortunate apprentice.
