Wagner's Parsifal
In his famous opera 'Parsifal' (premiered in
1882), German composer Richard Wagner
fused Christian legends on the Holy Grail
and the Holy Spear with Nordic myths and
Buddhist themes like self-renunciation and
compassion.
"I am writing Parsfial only for my wife. If I
had to depend on the German spirit, I should
have nothing more to say."
