Yersinia entomophaga
Rapid DNA mutations
Yersinia entomophaga is an entomopathogen and a distant
relative of Yersinia pestis, the causative agent
of bubonic plague. It has been shown to cause mortality in several
lepidopteran and orthopteran
hosts. The Y. entomophaga genome encodes a several
chitinases and Tc-like toxin proteins that are suggested to play a
role in its pathogenesis.
