54th Mass. Infantry

The 54th Massachusets Infantry Regiment was
one of the first African American regiments of the
CivilWar. It was made up of volunteers led by
white officers. The 54th Mass. took part in some
of the most important battles of the war due to
the fact that they were valued the least.
