Esterification

An esterification reaction is the reaction
between a carboxylic acid and an alcohol
producing an ester and a water molecule.
*If the carboxylic acid reacts with an amine,
an amide and water will be produced.*
A strong acid can catalyze this reaction.
This reaction may be reversed through a
hydrolysis reaction (acidic or basic).
