The Archery Contest
Action Card: After twenty years, Odysseus returns
to Ithaca in the disguise of a beggar. An archery
contest is held to see who could shoot Odysseus' bow
through twelve ax heads. Odysseus wins the contest, reveals his
identity, slaughters the hundreds of suitors
and takes back his position as the King of Ithaca.
"I knew that only Odysseus would be able to perform
this archery trick. I knew that the beggar was
Odysseus. There was no coincidence. I set the whole
thing up on purpose" (Atwood 139)
